There is a pond near my daughters school that is great for killing time while I'm waiting for class to let out. There are a handful of Mallards and a, Northern Shoveler couple that hangs out there most of the year. I was quite surprised to see this lone Ring-Necked Duck at the pond, and even more surprised when it swam straight at me. It got far closer than any other Ring-Necked Duck I've come across so far. I figure that it has learned that some people come to the pond specifically to feed the ducks, and who wouldn't love some free food?
